Our First Lady
First Lady Genecia Norwood works diligently in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. She is a Teacher, a Peacemaker, an Encourager, and a Worshipper. Raised by godly parents, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of ten. Thus began her journey in service to the Lord. She sang in the Youth Choir, taught Sunday School, and instructed 12-15 year olds in the Rites of Passage ministry.
Lady Genecia Norwood is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Doss High School, then Sullivan Business Institute, then on to Jefferson Community College, and in 1997 moved to Lexington to attend the University of Kentucky. In May of 2006 she earned a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky. She is currently employed by the University Of Kentucky Department Of Political Science as the Assistant to the director of Undergraduate Studies.
She is the dedicated wife of Bishop Jerome Norwood, Pastor of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Lexington, KY. They have two sons, three grandsons, and one granddaughter.
First Lady Norwood presently serves as president of the Women’s Ministry, a member of the Missionary Department, the secretary of the Koinonia Women’s Fellowship, and co-teaches the New Members Orientation class with her husband. Above all, Genecia Norwood strives to be the vessel of honor that the Lord has created her to be.
